poetry is overlapping layers

it is hard to define poetry, but it's easy to swallow that locutions of all scales fall somewhere on a spectrum of "poetic" to not.

there are many meanings to one word; perhaps a word's use is "poetic" if those many meanings are overlapped in ways that are all, to some extent, significant. See Klinkenborg in /Several Short Sentences/ on poetry.
